Facilitation

Effective meeting facilitation helps to meet corporate and organizational goals by planning accordingly. Setting the meeting goals and deciding upon participants is key to success. Goals need to be realistic, be attainable and also worthwhile to all involved.

A meeting agenda should be developed through dialogue with those calling for the meeting, participants and those providing knowledge and materials for the endeavor. Meeting facilitation also includes the coordination of media, materials, documentation and assistance in selecting the best forum, location and format.

Proper selection of location needs to correspond to the organization’s identity and need for the meeting. For example, when problematic operational issues are the topic an off-site location might be most conducive to a productive meeting. Format selection can also be pivotal in producing the best participation and collaboration. Materials may be in the form of presentations, workbooks, reference tools and so on.

Meetings conclude with summaries for each agenda item according to client needs. From there, policies, procedures and revisions can be documented and recorded.
